Description
Septarium from Madagascar, showing its interior covered by rhombohedral crystals of yellow Calcite. In the detail photo it is clearly seen.
Septaria are concretions with a spherical or ovoid shape. During their formation process, for various reasons, they are cracked from the center to the outside and filled by minerals, such as Calcite or Aragonite. These divisions are the septa, from which they take their name.
Septaria are also known as Dragon Eggs, because of their shape and original design. In this case, the base color is beige and the filling of the septa is brown and yellow.
This specimen shows both the outer rounded shape and the inner crystallized one. It is difficult to obtain, so it is a very interesting acquisition option.
