Depending on whether Fluor (Fl), Chloride (Cl) or Hydroxyl group (OH) predominates, it is called FLUORAPATITE, CHLORAPATITE or HYDROXYLAPATITE.
CRYSTAL FORM: hexagonal prism, hexagonal bipyramid, pinacoid; granular or botroidal forms.
COLOR: colorless, yellow, brown, green, red, blue.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: hard (5 Mohs), heavy (3,16/ 3,22 g/cm3), very fragile, imperfect exfoliation, conchoidal fracture, transparent to opaque, vitreous or resinous luster, soluble in acid, hardly fusible.
It is also known as APATITE.
