Description
Two types of crystallization can be seen in this specimen of Calcite, one growing in parallel with hexagonal tabular crystals and the other in the form of hexagonal prisms. The faces and edges of the prisms are very well defined and their straight shapes contrast with the smooth curves that form the tabular crystals arranged in parallel, giving rise to a very interesting volume. These formations are crowned by small pinnacles, as can be seen in the detail photos.
The specimen has a great luster and translucency. Its color is ice white or greyish; the pinnacles are brown. It comes from Zhejiang (China).
